SPMware was founded by Dr Robert Leane who, in conjunction with JEOL (Tokyo) Ltd, has been responsible for the design and development of the WinSPM Computer Control and WinSPM Data Processing Systems that have controlled the entire range of JEOL Scanning Probe Microscopes for over 25 years.
After reading Physics at Oxford University, Dr Leane gained a PhD at Cambridge University in “Scanning Tunnelling Microscopy”, where he helped to build Cambridge’s first STM system, and studied the oxygenation of the silicon 7x7 surface at the atomic level. Both during and after his PhD he worked closely with JEOL and other groups to help design and develop their own SPM systems, including WinSPM.
The WinSPM software suite performs the following functions:
- full control of the JEOL SPM microscopes
- all data acquisition from the microscopes
- a wide range of image processing, spectroscopy and CITS/mapping data processing and analysis functions.
Copyright and Future Development
SPMware and JEOL jointly own the copyright of WinSPM. However all future development and maintenance of WinSPM will be carried out by SPMware.
Customisation
SPMware is able to offer customisation services to tailor WinSPM to the specific requirements of individual research groups. For further information, see the Services page, or get in contact via the Contact form below.
